Presenting business ideas to seasoned professionals and answering tough questions posed by the judges (sharks) is a valuable learning experience for the St. Ignatius (and all of the Veale) competitors. When we asked the guys what made them want to take the leap into our entrepreneurship competition, this is what they said:
Freshman Seamus Cooney (pictured below) got inspired from seeing private label drinks at his favorite deli and thought, “I bet St. Ignatius students and alumni would love to purchase St. Ignatius branded beverages.” To test his assumptions, he began working with a private label bottler and selling his products to students in the cafeteria. They made quite a splash and Ohio Valley Beverage was launched. Seamus’s thorough approach to developing and launching his business impressed the judges. He took first place and will go on to compete at the Demo Day competition on March 8, 2016 against student-founders from 9 other private high schools.
On his win, Seamus remarked, “I have dreamed of starting a business from the time I was very young.” You are well on your way to making your dreams come true!
